Answer
While the State Library cannot provide legal or regulatory advice or interpretation of laws or rules, we can help with sources of information.
Here is a link to Chapter 408, Florida Statutes, Health care administration: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0400-0499/0408/0408ContentsIndex.html
The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) licenses and regulates many health care facilities, including hospitals, assisted living facilities, home health care agencies, medical laboratories and nursing homes (http://ahca.myflorida.com/MCHQ/Health_Facility_Regulation/). Nursing Homes are specifically under the Long Term Care Unit (http://ahca.myflorida.com/MCHQ/Health_Facility_Regulation/Long_Term_Care/Index_LTCU.shtml). Please contact AHCA-LTCU at (850) 412-4303 or LTCStaff@ahca.myflorida.com for more information about nursing home regulations.
Rehabilitation centers are under the Hospital and Outpatient Services Unit (http://ahca.myflorida.com/MCHQ/Health_Facility_Regulation/Hospital_Outpatient/index.shtml). Please contact AHCA-HOSU at (850) 488-5897 or hospitals@ahca.myflorida.com for more information.
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) (http://www.floridahealth.gov/) also regulates many healthcare professions and facilities. You can verify licenses, file complaints, apply for a license and more on their site (http://www.floridahealth.gov/licensing-and-regulation/index.html). You can email the Department at MedicalQualityAssurance@flhealth.gov for more information.
Under the DOH, the Florida Board of Nursing Home Administrators (http://floridasnursinghomeadmin.gov/) regulates and licenses nursing home staff. Please contact the Board at (850) 488-0595 for more information. This is one of many medical licensing boards; see the DOH website for links to others.
