Filing for unemployment

Answer

Unemployment compensation in Florida is called "Reemployment Assistance" and the system you use to apply for reemployment assistance is called "CONNECT".

You can apply for Reemployment Assistance by visiting the Department of Economic Opportunity web site at http://www.floridajobs.org/job-seekers-community-services/reemployment-assistance-center/.  To begin your application, click on the green "CONNECT Login" button under the Apply for Benefits heading in the box near the top right of the page.  On the next page, first acknowledge the legal disclaimer, then click on the link to "File a New Claim".

This Users Guide (PDF) offers step by step instructions on how to apply and use the system: http://www.floridajobs.org/unemployment/connect/English_External_Guide_Claimant.pdf

DEO also provides a series of video tutorials on YouTube about applying for reemployment assistance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6CFhFn-He4

For additional information and help with Reemployment Assistance, you can call the Reemployment Assistance Claims Contact Center at 800.204.2418.
