Veterans Preference for Out of State Job Applications

Veterans Preference for Out of State Job Applications
I wanted to comment, there should be some accommodations made for employment applications from out of state. I am also a veteran and consideration should be given to veterans whose home of record is Florida. You hiring managers or directors should consider alternative phone interviews or social media online interviews for such employment. I believe that I have not been considered due to being out of state and the hassle to deal with an out of state application.

Answer

According to the applicant guide linked on the job applicant page of the Florida Department of Management Services (the main support for the state personnel system), if a candidate claiming Veterans' Preference for a vacant position is not selected, they may file a complaint with the State of Florida, Department of Veterans' Affairs, Division of Benefits and Assistance, 9500 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, Florida 33708. A complaint must be filed within 60 calendar days of the candidate receiving notice of the hiring decision made by the employing agency. If a notice is not received, candidates must contact the human resource office where the vacancy occurred prior to filing a complaint. Such contact shall occur at least one time after 45 days have passed from the final date for submitting an application or the interview date, whichever is later in time.
